Bir is situated in the southeast portion of Dharamshala and it is located north of Bir on the path to the Thamsar Pass that leads to Bir Bhangal. Bir Billing is located at a distance of 14 km from Bir. It is primarily a Buddhist town and also houses a monastery along with a Tibetan handicraft center.
